Commentary

Sexual paintings and literature make me feel very uncomfortable (oddly enough, music that touches on that topic doesn't bother me one bit). I don't know why it makes me feel uneasy and squirm so much. I just can't deal and I want to shut my eyes. The fact that I made this painting and it looks the way it does, makes me feel, you guessed it, very uncomfortable.

But it's one of my favorite pieces. It's actually of a picture I took of some lovely roses that were growing on our rose bush out in front of our house. One was darker than the others. I was doing some line & wash like I always do and decided to add some drips at the bottom of the roses. I really liked the composition and was happy with how the colors and lines turned out.

But now all I can see is a wooha. The rest of the picture is ignored by my eyes and I feel embarrassed and weirded out. I want to do more flowers in this style but are they all going to turn out like this? I guess we will have to wait and find out.
